The Behemoth’s fourth game, Game 4…is a new thingy.

Somewhere inbetween hearing Will Stamper announce the arrival of my new voicemails, and humming “Buckle Your Pants” (One of the catchiest songs you’ll ever hear in an ending sequence) intermittently.I found myself unconsciously, and yet subconsciously anticipating the next announcement from indie developer The Behemoth. This is considering of course, that their last title was the imitable and yet inimitable Battleblock Theater,  a particular brand of hoot only second in design ethics to platformers like LittleBigPlanet. Such is their off-the-wall creativity and humorous design ethics so deeply ingrained in the very fabric of my indie-game loving soul, you can imagine my surprise and glee the very moment a new announcement from them came down the pipeline. They’ve made a side scrolling arcade shooter, a 4-player beat-em up, and a puzzle platformer. What could be next?

The trailer above may have all the answers..Or simply more questions upon viewing.

Unlike their previous endeavors, all owing to some sort of cheeky homage, I cannot quite tell what is going on in this obviously titled “Game 4”, aside from being the literal terminology such a company would use to describe what is indeed their fourth game. It at first glance looks like it owes a bit of its story to that of BBT’s ending. At second, it looks deliriously bizarre and once again, narrated by Will Stamper himself, I’m sure we’ll find out more as we inch closer to Pax Prime. They do love making a splash there, after all.
